Outgoing Server

To limit the spread of spam a number of providers (including ourselves) are putting certain restrictions in place. A new restriction that has recently been put in place on the server is that if you are currently using another Internet Service Provider (ISP) to connect to the Internet but still use Suffolk Online as your email provider you will need to use your other ISP's outgoing email server to send through and also ammend a couple of other settings. You can do this by following the instructions below.

  1. In Outlook Express click "Tools" at the top
  2. Click "Accounts"
  3. Click "Mail" along the top
  4. Click "Properties" on the right hand side
  5. Click "Servers" along the top
  6. Change the outgoing server in the relevant box to the one that your other Internet Service Provider uses
  7. Click "OK"

Note: Some Internet Service Providers may require you to select the "My Server Requires Authentication" box and then you will need to click the "Settings" button and then enter your other ISP's username and password in the relevant box. Please check before hand whether this will be necessary.

Other email addresses

If you have another email address through another supplier and you use our outgoing email server to send, please change the settings in your email account so that it uses "smtp.nildram.co.uk" rather than relay.suffolkonline.net. You can do this by following the instructions below.

  1. In Outlook Express click "Tools" at the top
  2. Click "Accounts"
  3. Click "Mail" along the top
  4. Click "Properties" on the right hand side
  5. Click "Servers" along the top
  6. Change the outgoing server to "smtp.nildram.co.uk"
  7. Click "OK"
