Introducing the new Heritage Food & Drink Trail, a brilliant way to explore Newmarket! Join a guided walk for just £15 per person as we explore some of the wonderful history of the town! Learn about the famous Newmarket sausage, how the town got its own gin and all about the historic Newmarket cake.

Discover Newmarket is delighted to be working with three local companies to bring you a brand new Heritage Food and Drink Trail!

This delightful guided walking tour will showcase some of the important elements of the links to royalty and the town’s storied history. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit three beloved Newmarket institutions to experience the food and drink that have formed part of Newmarket’s heritage. Learn all about the famed Newmarket sausage and why there is nowhere else in the world that can lay claim to being producers of this popular staple with a visit to the historic Powter’s butchers.

Next up you’ll pop into Corney & Barrow, a wine merchants near the top of the High Street with their distinctive red shopfront. The company dates back to 1780 and the team here will give you insight into the world of wine. You may also learn a bit more about the famed Newmarket Gin!

The final stop on the Heritage Food and Drink Trail will take you to Nancy’s Vintage Teashop, a delightful tearoom on Old Station Road where you will enjoy a taste of Newmarket cake. As part of your tour you will also receive a £5 voucher towards lunch at Nancy’s Vintage Teashop.
